This week we truly had a black Friday when a man entered a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood and open fired, killing three and wounding 9 others. This is another tragedy in a laundry list of attacks against people trying to live their lives without interference from crazy god fearing people. This is sick, and I’m fucking over it. I honestly have no problem with any religion as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else, your belief in a magical sky jew doesn’t bother me in the least, in fact if it makes you feel better and encourages you to be better, than more power to you. But as soon as you start to use the words in your little black book to beat others down and force others to your beliefs then I’m fucking done. I suppose it’s too early to know exactly why this heinous fuck nut, I’m refusing to say his name, I refuse to give credit, committed the atrocious crimes but having him utter “no more baby parts” certainly helps us paint a picture of this guys ideas.
I have really been trying to rationalize why people would want to close and attack clinics that help women with their reproductive health, they provide a service so abortions aren’t as necessary, birth control, check ups, STI treatment, pregnancy tests, and overall health and wellness for everyone who walks through that door. I have been to a Planned Parenthood on more than one occasion, they checked me for SDT’s, gave me free condoms, and even helped out a girlfriend after our contraceptive broke. They don’t deal in abortions, yes it’s a service they will perform, but there is so much more that these clinics do for our population.
Anti-abortion incidents as violent as Friday’s shooting are rare – more often, activists choose “disruption” tactics, according to figures from the National Abortion Federation (NAF). If the shooting Prices k to have been motivated by abortion, it will be the ninth murder by anti-abortion activists since 1977. NAF has also recorded 17 attempted murders between 1977 and 2014.
Mostly these cowards and bigots chose to use tactics like trespassing, vandalism, burglary and stalking, in fact since 1995 there has been over 5000 violent incidents recorded at US abortion clinics.
They include 922 reported incidents of vandalism, 663 anthrax or bioterrorism threats, 354 stalking incidents and 204 reported death threats.
I don’t want to assume that all these attacks and threats are all because of a little black book written hundreds of years ago, but with the overwhelming evidence pointing to religion I have a hard time seeing any other possibilities.
With that, I want to open this up to you guys, what could be the motivation behind these attacks? I pride myself in being relatively good at empathizing with any belief, but this one I’m having a lot of trouble with.
